CHALKHILL LIVES: Community Television Drama School
The CHALKHILL LIVES: C.T.D.S is a grant funded registered charity that provides free drama training workshops to the immediate and surrounding Portsmouth community.
Working with schools, various community groups, and low-income local residents, the charity uses drama as a tool to increase individual self-confidence and self-esteem levels, promote community cohesion, raise aspirations, and generally provide people with a strong sense of achievement in life.
Many students progress from these workshops to joining the soap opera production.
To date the charity has received grants from:
- UnLtd
- Awards For All
- The Local Network Fund
- Community Chest
- Global Grants
The CHALKHILL LIVES: COMMUNITY TELEVISION DRAMA SCHOOL is a registered charity, No. 1117299
'Too Much, Too Young'
Funded by the Local Network Fund, Hampshire, this film is designed to stimulate debate around the issue of teenage underage drinking. The film - to be distributed on DVD across all Portsmouth Schools by Portsmouth City Council's Health Improvement and Development Service - is the culmination of many months hard work by both charity staff members and young people from the Portsmouth and surrounding area.
We would like to thank Co-op stores for their support with this film; Q.A Hospital, Cosham; and both Westfield Junior and Paulsgrove Primary Schools which served as filming locations.
