- Are you a budding TV scriptwriter?
- Want to get your writing talents noticed?
- Think you can devise better soap plots than those you currently see on TV?
- JOIN THE CHALKHILL WRITING TEAM AND SHOW THE WORLD YOUR TALENTS
The CHALKHILL television and Internet soap opera production gives aspiring television scriptwriters the chance to have their work produced and seen broadcast to the world over the Internet and on national BBC TV.
If you are serious about a television scriptwriting career you will know how difficult it is breaking into the industry. CHALKHILL can provide aspiring writers like yourself the opportunity to regularly contribute to the writing team of a working production; to develop new ideas and characters for the screen; to see your own work produced and broadcast; and get the chance to be seen by industry professionals. The production is officially supported by the BBC and broadcast on their digital "Community Channel".
The CHALKHILL writing team meets regularly to flesh out the plotting of future soap episodes; to pitch and develop new storylines; and to discuss the development of the show's characters. A fun creative gathering; writing team members get the chance to play God, deciding the fate of the show's varied cast of characters.
The CHALKHILL writing team operates in the same way as that of a professional TV soap production. Writers are given limited time to turn a script commission into a 30 minute episode script, meeting with the show's Producer, Director and Script Editor to hone the content and structure of their work.
All writers are asked to commit themselves to the writing of their episode script; are expected to deliver their episode within the given time frame; and are asked to accept all constructive criticisms given. All writers should also enjoy working with the rest of the writing team, be full of original ideas for the show, and be committed to making CHALKHILL a fun yet intelligent show for the enjoyment of the viewing audience.
If you want to join the CHALKHILL writing team, you should first submit a sample of your screen writing work to the show's production team. Once enrolled, you will then be asked to attend the weekly drama workshops that take place in Portsmouth, working alongside the actors working on the production.
All writers are fully acknowledged for their work in the show's production credits. All copyright of the writers work must be surrendered to SSFILMS LTD to enable the scripts to be produced and broadcast.
The fee to join the CHALKHILL writing team is £60.00 a month. Fill out our enrolment form if you would like to join up or simply require further information.
